Today The Association for Home and Hospice Care of North Carolina (AHHC) aired a new Internet video advertisement, here on its website – SaveHomeCareandHospice.com. AHHC is emailing links to the Internet video to constituents in State Senator Doug Berger’s district, as well as distributing it statewide. The Association’s television ad “It’s Hard to Believe…but True” is also airing in Senator Berger’s district.
“Senator Doug Berger proposed to cut home care for Medicaid patients 60% – leaving 20,000 elderly patients without care,” Tim Rogers, CEO of the Home Care and Hospice Association of North Carolina, stated. “The reason Senator Berger gave was simple: He said a ‘study’ by a state vendor (named CCME) proved 45% of the patients in home care were ineligible. But the study didn’t say that. In fact, it didn’t say anyone was ineligible. Not a single patient. Because it didn’t include an examination of a single patient. Bottom line: Senator Berger cut home care for 20,000 patients who were eligible – and what he’s telling people about that report is inaccurate.”
